Absolutely agree - we have to be able to mark someone as cancelled without deleting them off the event completely, and this then has to reflect back on to RE as a cancellation. Basic stuff for alumni engagement.

You're absolutely right! It's incredibly frustrating how the current system handles refunds. The fact that it completely erases any record of participation makes tracking refunds — and even knowing who originally registered for an event — nearly impossible.
Even worse, there is a bug where it doesn't update participation in sub-events and leaves people marked as "attending" which adds to the confusion. There needs to be a much better way to manage cancellations that maintains clear records and accurately reflects event participation.
